With Kathryn Schneider (DOMP, D.Sc.), osteopathic treatment for chronic conditions, movement dysfunction and pelvic-floor concerns.
Baby massage lessons
We help new parents learn infant massage to increase bonding and soothe their little ones.
About the clinic
A privately owned Kitchener clinic since 1995
A Natural Alternative is a privately owned massage therapy clinic in Kitchener. We believe our role is to use our training and skill in massage and alternative therapies to support the well-being, health, activity and lifestyle goals of our clients, who are marathon runners, gardeners, moms, dads, golfers, grandparents, desk jockeys, babies, children, hockey players, swimmers, teachers and coders. Ann Starr first opened the clinic in 1995 and has since grown the practice to five Registered Massage Therapists. We've been at 660 Frederick Street since 1997, and a 2009 remodel brought radiant-heat floors, warm earthy tones and a bright, welcoming space.

Meet the RMT team
Founder of the clinic in 1995, Ann is a dedicated RMT with additional certification as a myofascial instructor and practitioner. She uses myofascial release to help realign her clients' posture. An avid camper, cyclist and hiker, and mother of three.
ann@anaturalalternative.caOver 25 years of practice with everyone from infants and elderly to people with chronic illness and elite athletes. A graduate of the Canadian College of Osteopathy, her thesis focused on manual osteopathic treatment and pelvic-floor dysfunction in women.
kschneider@anaturalalternative.caHonours Bachelor of Kinesiology from Brock University (2008) and an RMT graduate of the Canadian College of Massage and Hydrotherapy (2010). Concentrates on back and shoulder massage, sports injuries and repetitive stress.

Insurance: Many extended health care plans cover treatment by a Registered Massage Therapist. We don't direct bill to extended health care plans or insurers. We bill you at time of service and provide a detailed receipt after every visit so you can submit to your insurer. OHIP does not cover massage therapy.
Rates current as of January 1, 2023. All rates include HST. We reserve the right to alter our rates as required.

- What does a massage cost?
- Standard rates (HST included): 30 min $79, 45 min $99, 60 min $119, 90 min $167. Osteopathic treatment with Kathryn: 30 min $94, 45 min $119, 60 min $144.
- Do you direct bill insurance?
- We don't direct bill, but we provide a detailed receipt after every visit so you can easily submit to your insurance provider.
- Is massage therapy covered by OHIP?
- No, massage therapy is not covered by OHIP, but it is covered by most extended health benefit plans. We provide receipts for reimbursement.
- Is there parking?
- Yes, there's free angled parking for four cars right in front of the building. Our door is the one marked Office, on the right at the end of the driveway.
